5:30pm-6:15 pm Righteous Revival
Righteous Revival is composed of six musicians who played in rock bands in Harlan County, Kentucky, over 40 years ago. They eventually went their separate ways, but all continued to play music and stayed in touch with each other. They reunited last year to play original Christian songs. Their tunes are a unique fusion of contemporary Christian music with “old school” rock and blues. Two of the group’s members are ordained ministers. One is an attorney. Another is a deputy sheriff for the Harlan County Sheriff’s Department. Three of the band members still live in Harlan County. Of the other three, one lives in Frankfort, Kentucky, another lives in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and one lives in Knoxville, Tennessee. They are as experienced and talented a group of musicians as you’ll find anywhere. This will be the band’s first appearance at the Chicken Festival.

Even Tides is an American Pop-Rock band based out of Corbin, Kentucky founded by Lance Freeman in February of 2014. Freeman, in the wake of the break-up of his former band, The Royal Knockout, wanted to start another project in the pop-rock genre, but he needed a new, catchy name. “I was a huge fan of Stages and Stereos, and they had recently released an EP called ‘Small Town Favorites,’ which featured a song entitled ‘Even Tides’—I loved the song and the name and reached out to Stage’s front man, Daniel Lancaster, who gave me his blessing to use it as the name for my new project.” “I already had a bass player who was interested in playing with me,” Freeman said of bassist Josh Felts, “he was committed right off the bat.” Felts, former bassist for Christian-Metal band ‘My Surrender’, quickly became the second member to complete the rhythm section of Even Tides. Freeman, former drummer of Bowling Green, KY Pop-Rock Band, The Royal Knockout, had planned on reprising his role behind the drums; however, he couldn’t find a front man that fit. “I found myself driving down the road one day and just thought, ‘I think I could give singing a shot’. Freeman quickly enlisted his cousin, Jake Freeman, to fill the drummer slot, allowing himself to transition over to the front man position. Freeman said, “From that point on it was a matter of finding the right guitarist.” “That’s when I discovered a talented guitarist hiding amongst the youth in our church,” Freeman said. Brandon Lyons, after some consideration, came on as the lead guitarist for Even Tides. “He showed a lot of promise and skill on the guitar, and was excited to learn a new style of music,” Freeman commented about Lyons. After spending time forming a solid line-up, Freeman and his newly assembled team began writing material in June of 2014 for what would be their debut EP, Love My Love. After two-and-a-half months of writing the band made their way down to Valdosta, Georgia in mid September to begin recording with the widely respected Lee Dyess of Earthsound Studios. Dyess’ track record includes bands and labels such as: Mayday Parade, Go Radio, From First to Last, I Set My Friends on Fire, Oh Manhattan, Seeking Serenity, Ninja Gun, Good Knives, Select Start, Stages and Stereos, Vega Under Fire, Epitaph Records, Fearless Records, Atlantic Records, Suburban Home Records, Sabot Productions, Indianola Records, Rise Records, Suretone Records and many more. “We began recording the EP in mid September, but didn’t finish up until early November of 2014,” Freeman said. “It was a long, strenuous process, but Dyess was the guy I whole heartedly trusted to make our EP truly shine, and he didn’t disappoint,” Freeman said about the experience. Soon after finishing the EP, the band began preparing for the EP’s release on February 3, 2015. “We hit the ground running,” Freeman said. Since the release of their debut EP “Love My Love” Even Tides has been playing shows in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana with plans to push into Ohio, Virginia, and Georgia. “The plan for Even Tides is to reach out and connect with as many people as possible—to show love and build relationships doing what we [the band] collectively feel we were put on this earth to do: write and perform music,” Freeman said. Even Tides is currently booking shows for the Fall of 2015 and into the new year, contact them today at: EvenTidesMusic@Gmail.com in order to bring them to a venue near you!

Whether they are performing cover songs or original songs, these young men put their hearts and souls into their music. Their performances showcase their tight vocal harmonies, their talent as musicians, and their impressive ability to write meaningful songs that people can relate to. They take bits and pieces they collect from everyday life experiences and weave them into songs that blend old and new into a sound that is uniquely theirs. “We use time-tested techniques from the classics and combine that with the energy and catchiness of pop to create our own sound,” says Caleb.
They recorded a demo in Nashville and locally recorded an album, “Longer Roads”, that includes eight of their original songs. They have enjoyed performing live for audiences in many wonderful venues throughout the region. They were humbled to perform at the 2015 Kentucky Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, where several Kentucky-native talents were recognized. They have performed on KET television programs, appeared on the Blue Plate Special radio show on WDVX in Knoxville, TN, and performed in multiple festivals and concert series throughout the region. “We knew from a very young age that music was going to be an important part of our lives, and we are excited to see where the music takes us,” says Ethan.
